Professor K D Gaur, former Vice-Chancellor, Professor and Head, Post-Graduate Department of Law, Utkal University Bhubaneshwar, presently Professor Emeritus, New Law College, Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune, former Director Research (Law) and Founder Director, Amity Law School, Lucknow, is a distinguished scholar and jurist of international repute. Professor Gaur has had an outstanding career with an LL.M. (Gold Medal) from Allahabad University and Ph.D and LL.D. from the University of London. He has worked at the Indian Law Institute, the law faculties of Meerut, Rajasthan, Utkal and Benaras Hindu Universities in India; Visiting Fellow, Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London; Fulbright Visiting Professor, United States; Visiting Professor, Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Private Law, Hamburg and Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law, Freiburg, Germany; Visiting Professor, U.S.S.R. In recognition of his original contributions of very high standard in various fields of law, professional achievements and services to the community, Professor Gaur was elected Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland in 1971, appointed National Lecturer in Law by the University Grants Commission in 1982 and selected Man of the Year 1998 and was awarded commemorative Gold Medal for contribution to the community and professional achievements by the American Biographical Institute, United States and was awarded Certificate of Merit of Excellence and Gold Medal by the Friendship Forum of India in 2009 for outstanding and extraordinary achievements to promote greater friendship and India-International cooperation. Professor Gaur is the First Indian to have been awarded both Ph.D. and the prestigious Degree of Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) by the University of London in 2001.
