University Law in India' is a comprehensive book covering all the legal aspects of various types of Universities and other institutions of higher education sector of the country. It contains 42 chapters and 27 appendices. Certain scanned decisions/orders of the Visitor/Chancellor of the State Universities of Uttar Pradesh have been given in various appendices in the last part of the book to enlighten the readers of the standard practices and procedures adopted at the Raj Bhavan in taking decisions by the Visitor/Chancellor in the matters of legal disputes referred to him by the litigants for his decision. These decisions/orders of the Visitor/Chancellor not only contain the claims and counter-claims made by the contesting parties but also the methodology adopted at the Visitor's/Chancellors Secretariat in identifying die issues involved for decision and the application of law for taking the decisions. 'University Law in India' would not only be useful for the Chancellors/Visitors, Vice-Chancellors, Registrars, teachers, staff, other functionaries and academic, administrative or adjudicatory bodies of various types of Universities and other institutions of higher education of the country but also for the students and researchers on the University system. "Shri Shyam Shanker Upadhyay is a District & Sessions Judge in Uttar Pradesh. He has served as judge in District Judiciary in different capacities in different districts of Uttar Pradesh and has also served as Additional Director of Training at the Uttar Pradesh Judicial Training & Research Institute, Lucknow. He has trained judges, magistrates, police & jail authorities, public prosecutors and others in legal and judicial matters. His services for providing training in legal matters to the administrative officers of various levels are also solicited at the Uttar Pradesh Academy of Administration & Management, Lucknow. He has prepared huge valuable reading materials for judges, magistrates, public prosecutors, jail authorities, police officers on various law subjects and the same have been published in many journals, brochures and books etc. He has authored a book titled ""The Governors' Guide : Powers & Functions of Governors under the Constitution of India"". The said book has been published by 'LexisNexis' and has been appreciated by the President of India and the constitutional dignitaries. Many articles written by him on different subjects of social, literary, religious and spiritual importance have also been published in several magazines of different organizations in different states of our country. He has delivered lectures on various law subjects to the law teachers of various Universities under the UGC sponsored refreshers programmes. Since 2011, Shri Upadhyay is posted at Raj Bhavan, Lucknow as legal advisor to the Hon'ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh. Ms. Sonal Upadhyay, co-author of the present book ""University Law in India"" has done her B.A. LL.B. from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, Lucknow and LL.M. from National Law Institute University, Bhopal and has also qualified NET. She had earlier contributed in shaping of the book titled ""The Governors' Guide : Powers & Functions of Governors under the Constitution of India"" which has been published by LexisNexis and has been widely appreciated and acknowledged across the country including the constitutional dignitaries like the Hon'ble President of India, Governors, Judges and others.
